I think I’ve touched on this before, but I really like the idea of Miraak coming back to Nirn thinking he’s gonna be the Big Bad, only to find that everything’s so different that now he’s just an anxious mess. He struggles with new social norms. The sun is too bright after so many years in Apocrypha. Everything smells and tastes so strong. He ends up so overwhelmed that he just has to say, “Fine, I guess I can put a pin in this world conquering thing” and go along for the ride with the LDB until he can adjust. I want him humbled and uncomfortable. I want him doubting himself and everything he thought he knew. I want him forced to accept that the LDB is better prepared to deal with the world they live in now, so Miraak has to submit to the better leader (for now?). Only once he’s been broken by all that could the healing and growth into something more than a megalomaniac begin.
